Life drawing on paper with video.

I conceived my idea while reading a passage of ‘The Power of Now’: “Emotion literally means “disturbance”. The word comes from the Latin emovere, meaning “to disturb””. A shift in consciousness occurs when an emotion physically alters one’s current state of being. I propose to interpret this notion through performing observational drawing. The aim is to produce a series of drawings, recorded on video, whereby a physical disturbance alters the process of drawing. Using the exhibition space as an observational subject, I employ an assistant to disturb the act of drawing (playing the role as the ‘emotion’). In turn, the process will create a disturbance, visible in the resulting drawings. The audience observe the process on screen.

Preparatory drawing for exhibition piece. (6 segmented observations of The Terrace interior).
